“Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is specifically your own.” – Bruce Lee

After reading Linda Holmes article on the act of surrender regarding the information overload we are continually faced with, it was interesting to see similar words from the past. It is easy to dismiss this problem as a symptom of the influence of technology, as something that is new to our society. It would seem, though that this choice has always been around.  How we choose to spend our time. That’s what it seems to come down to.  It is the only “thing” that is truly ours to choose how we spend it.  No pressure, though.

A corollary to Ms. Holmes article would be the additional point that Mr. Lee makes:  “add what is specifically your own.” Make stuff. Build stuff. Add to it.
